Ludwig van Beethoven’s Grand Sonata, Tschaikovsky’s Memories of a Dear Place, ChopinOn Friday, December 17, at 7:30 p.m., a Concert of
the Embassy of Musical Mastery series
by the St. Petersburg Music House will take place at the Russian Centre for Science and Culture in Luxembourg. The Christmas program will include classical masterpieces by Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and Chopin.
The St. Petersburg Music House soloists will be the Ambassadors of Musical Mastery of Russia.
Alexandra Weissbecker (violine), a student at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg in the class of Professor Pierre Amoyal. A laureate of the International Beethoven Violin Competition in Austria. A laureate of the International Violin Competition Kloster Schöntal in Germany. The winner in the International Anton Rubinstein Violin Competition in Dusseldorf, Germany. The winner in the All-Russian competition of young musicians «Constellation» in Sochi. She takes part in the programs of the St. Petersburg Music House since 2018.
Andrey Zenin (piano), 26 years old, an assistant trainee at the Rostov State Rakhmaninov Conservatory with Professor Rimma Skorokhodova, and a master’s student at the University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar, Germany, with Professor Balasz Szokolaj. A laureate of the International Piano Competition in Georgia. He received the Phillipe Foriel Destezet special prize and a diploma for the best interpretation of a Claude Debussy piece at the International Piano Competition Pontoise Piano Campus in France.
The Christmas programme features
Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No.4, also known as
Grand Sonata, which is dedicated to one of the composer’s students. This piece is lyrical and sincere.
Memory of a Dear Place, a set of pieces by
Tchaikovsky will be performed. The first movement
Méditation is a sublime elegy. It will be followed by the third piece in the set, the light and lyrical
Mélodie, which is warm and soulful. Tchaikovsky’s fabulous
Waltz Scherzo for violin and piano will also be performed, echoing the New Year’s Eve imagery of The Nutcracker. Finally, the concert will be completed with music by
Chopin: one of the gems of the composer’s repertoire —
Nocturne in C minor, a passionate
Scherzo No. 2, and the iridescent and soothing
Piano Sonata No. 3.
The St. Petersburg Music House’s project
«The Embassy of Musical Mastery» is known from 2012 and covers both the Russia regions and different countries across the world. It includes the visiting sessions of master-classes of the leading musicians in the six Russian regions and tours of the successful young soloists in the Russia Centers of Science and Culture abroad. In Luxembourg, the first concerts of this series have been held since 2014.
The St. Petersburg Music House is a federal institution of culture, established in 2006 for the purpose of preparing Russian young musicians for international competitions and festivals.
